PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE

What is peripheral vascular disease?

Diseases of the arteries and veins in the neck, arms, or legs can cause debilitating problems.

Blood flows from the heart to the body through arteries. Sometimes, fat deposits can build up inside the wall arteries and causing narrowing if not complete blockage! When this happens, the part of the body that is fed by the artery starts to suffer and symptoms can occur.

Veins bring the blood back to the heart from the body. With time or certain medical conditions, the veins can stop working effectively, especially in the legs. This can lead to skin color changes, large “spider veins”, and even sores or ulcers.
